Tomos Thornton
Tomos trained as a Fine Artist and originally studied Optical Art which is where Tomos initially became interested in monochrome imagery. He now specialises in drawing and painting faces predominantly using black Posca Pens, but he is equally adept with any kind of paint or other drawing implement.
Tomos mainly depicts 'lived in' faces. Generally the faces are of older people with an expressive look on their faces, mostly happy but sometimes poignant always showing the wrinkles and furrows on the faces like a timeline through their life. He creates the marks using a posca paint pen and using his finger and an eraser works back into the ink to create depth and intricacy.
Tomos Enjoys live Art and regularly performs in doodleplanet in Chester and will be performing at Upfest in Bristol in May. Tomos will be exhibiting with the Cilcain Artisans during Helfa Gelf in september and has his first Solo Exhibition in Theatr Clwyd in January 2014.
Tomos has done many commission pieces of landscapes, animals, and obviously faces. Contact Tomos direct for commission ideas or for prints. He will soon be available for tutoring. Further work can be seen through www.facebook.com/TomosThorntonArtwork or www.tomosthornton.wordpress.com
